Aims and objectives of the home: Acorn house cannot entirely replicate the warmth, affection, support and love which might, in other circumstances, be available to each young person in their own home, and cared for by his own parents. However our aim, for the benefit of each and every young people is to try our hardest to do so. The home commits to: a) Working with each young person, his placing authority, social workers, parents, (as appropriate) and all others associated with his care towards identifying, implementing and reviewing a plan of care which is largely unique to the young person, and which adequately reflects his needs at any one time. b) Look after each young person and ensure that they enjoy a safe, secure, dignified, warm, caring and loving environment which will nurture their education. c) Always look ahead, towards the young person’s future needs, in order to prepare the young people for the time when they must leave the home, and live independently. d) Provide leisure, fun, encouragement, opportunity and support for each young person with a view to each young person fulfilling their potential. e) Listen to all of the young people accommodated in the home, so that their views can be taken into account. f) Through regular meetings and discussions, involve each young person in the running of the home, in order that they may understand the Home’s rules, and on occasion contribute to their development and review in the light of changing needs and circumstances. |
